Job Description

Select People Solutions is pleased to be working with our local client in their search for an asphalt operator. Successful candidates must have prior asphalt experience, be mechanically inclined, and can remain methodical in high intensity environments.

Compensation & Hours: 
  • The rate of pay will be $30-$36/hr. 
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends during peak seasons
 
Position Summary: 
  • Monitor equipment to ensure correct flow and mix of raw materials into crushers and screening systems.
  • Adjust equipment settings to meet production specifications and resolve blockages or irregular feed.
  • Operate equipment such as crushers, mixers, bins, belt scales, and metering pumps – troubleshooting mechanical issues as needed
  • Perform daily equipment checks and inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues.
  • Order in oil, rock, and other material needed for production
  • Complete basic maintenance tasks, such as greasing, belt tensioning, screen changes, and minor repairs.
  • Communicate with the control room, loader operators, and maintenance crew to coordinate production flow.
  • Track material usage, downtime, and maintenance activities using logs or digital tools.
  • Follow safety protocols and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and assist in plant clean-up duties.
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • 2+ years experience working in asphalt or aggregate 
  • Experience repairing and maintaining equipment
  • Leadership skills, including ability to foster trust and proactive teams
  • Ability to work in a high intensity environment and remain methodical 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot on the fly
 
Bonus Points For: 
  • Experience ordering material for an asphalt facility
