Job Description

Our non-profit client, located in Lethbridge, AB is seeking a compassionate and energetic Assistant Food Services Coordinator. The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated team player who displays a friendly and positive attitude towards the job, guests, other staff and volunteers. In this role you will work closely with the Food Services coordinator and will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and proportioning nutritious meals, and assist in providing an outstanding service for all their volunteers & guests.

Compensation & Hours: 
  • The rate of pay will be $20/hr.
  • Monday–Friday: 6 am–2 pm
 
Position Summary: 
  • You will be responsible for the kitchen operations including maintaining and ordering ingredients & stock, preparing ingredients and cooking nutritious meals,
  • Ensure staff and volunteers are adhering to food safety, cleanliness, sanitization & workplace safety standards according to Alberta Health Services Regulations
  • Assist with training, supervising and delegating tasks to other food & beverage staff
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and serve ware is in good repair and report all deficiencies to Food Services Coordinator and arrange repairs if necessary
  • Ensure kitchen ingredients are fresh and in stock, which will include working with the Food Services Coordinator to order all supplies required
  • Minimize waste by using inventory control systems 
  • Responsible for executing top notch service to all customers by coordinating all food & beverage deliveries while maintaining great relationships with staff and volunteers
  • Use a POS and handle money
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Current Food Safe Certification
  • 3 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • Good physical stamina with the endurance to stand for the entire shift as well as bend, move and lift 50 lbs safely
  • Display a patient, empathetic, respectful, and positive attitude
  • Ability to problem solve, multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
 
Bonus Points For: 
  • Experience managing in a food & beverage setting
  • Chef experience in a banquet or catering environment
