Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Finishing Carpenter to join their team. In this role you will assist your team, including various tradespersons, in transforming their clients’ visions into reality. Compensation & Hours: 
  • The rate of pay will be $22-$30/ hour
  • Monday to Friday, day shifts with the potential of overtime and casual weekends
 
Position Summary: 
  • Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures according to project specifications. This includes but not limited to:
    • Repairing and restoring existing woodwork, trim, or cabinetry to maintain or revitalize its appearance and function
    • Installing various types of trim
    • Installing custom cabinetry
    • Construct and install staircases, including handrails, balusters, and newel posts
    • Fitting and finishing floorboards, ensuring they are level and properly aligned
    • Hanging doors and fitting them with hardware
    • Installing window frames and trim 
    • Cutting and fitting crown molding
    • Installing and/or fitting intricate custom woodwork pieces to suit the design and functional needs of the space
  • Accurately measuring and marking dimensions, ensuring precision and accuracy in all work.
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools, including but not limited to saws, routers, and drills to cut, shape, and assemble materials. 
  • Proficiently build and install cabinets, shelves, and other custom woodwork. 
  • Ensuring quality of work by inspecting completed projects and making necessary adjustments or corrections as needed. 
  • Manage and maintain an inventory of all materials and tools. 
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • 5+ Years of direct experience as a finishing carpenter assistant or Journeyperson Carpenter certification with hands on experience.
  • Valid and clean class 5 driver’s license (not GDL) with reliable transportation
  • Proven ability to work with various materials including but not limited to wood, MDF, composite materials, plastics, or metals. 
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and imperial, as well perform construction mathematics.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to ensuring your work is precise, well finished, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Safety Minded – bonus points if you have safety certification and training.
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines while being flexible and adapting to changing project requirements, changes in plans or materials, or other unexpected issues that may arise while remaining positive and professional.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with other team members, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project completion.
  • Proven problem-solving skills both proactively as well as reactively.  
  • Strong physical stamina with the ability to bend, kneel, lift 50+lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
