Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage and oversee all aspects of payroll processing. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll regulations in Alberta and ensures accuracy and compliance in all payroll functions.

Compensation & Hours: 
  • The rate of pay will be $24-$28/hr.
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
 
Position Summary: 
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates or deductions
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta employment standards, including vacation pay, overtime, statutory holidays, and other relevant provincial laws
  • Calculate and remit payroll deductions, such as income tax, CPP, and EI, in accordance with CRA guidelines
  • Prepare and submit year-end reporting, including T4s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other required filings
  • Handle employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and deductions
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure employee data accuracy and manage benefit enrollments and deductions
  • Stay current with changes in payroll legislation and implement any necessary adjustments
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Diploma or certification in accounting, payroll administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years of payroll experience, with a strong understanding of Alberta payroll regulations
  • Proficiency in payroll software, with preference for experience in Quickbooks online, ADP, Ceridian, or similar systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with confidential information
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
