Civil Engineering Technologist
Job Description
The Civil Engineering & Design Technologist will support the planning, design, drafting, and coordination of civil infrastructure projects. This individual will work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to assist with project execution from preliminary design through construction support.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, and capable of balancing design responsibilities with project coordination and field-related activities.

Compensation & Hours:
• The rate of pay will be $30/hr
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Occasional overtime required
Position Summary:
• Prepare civil engineering drawings, plans, and design layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related drafting software
• Assist with the design and development of municipal infrastructure, land development, transportation, drainage, and utility projects
• Support project planning, calculations, quantity take-offs, and technical documentation
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders throughout various project phases
• Conduct site visits, field reviews, and data collection as required
• Assist with contract administration, tender preparation, and construction support activities
• Ensure drawings and project documentation comply with applicable standards, regulations, and specifications
• Maintain accurate project records and support ongoing project reporting and coordination
Required Qualifications:
• Must be registered or eligible to register with ASET
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of experience in civil engineering design and drafting
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience supporting civil infrastructure, municipal, transportation, or land development projects
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction processes
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment
• Valid driver’s license and ability to attend project sites as required
Bonus Points For:
• Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with Alberta municipal standards and regulations
• Experience with survey data, grading design, and stormwater systems
• Exposure to contract administration or construction inspection
• Additional software experience including GIS, modeling, or project management platforms
